Initiatives of ADCA include: National Drugs Sector Information Service, (Supporting research and practice through evidence), National Inhalants Information Service, (Informing the Australian community about inhalant abuse), the RADAR register (which contains up-to-date records of current and recently completed research projects) and Drug Action Week, (a national week of activities to raise awareness)
ADCA and it's staff works collaboratively with the government, non-government, business and community sectors to promote evidence-based, socially just, approaches aimed at preventing or reducing the health, economic and social harm caused by alcohol and other drugs to individuals, families, communities and the nation.
ADCA is a not-for-profit organisation that receives funding for its work through the Commonwealth Government's Community Sector Support Scheme and the National Drug Strategy Program. Some additional funding is provided through membership fees, sponsorship and specific projects.
ADCA's membership includes organisations, services, agencies and individual professionals and practitioners engaged in alcohol and other drug services throughout Australia. ADCA's membership also includes: major university research centres; tertiary institutions that offer courses in addiction studies and other programs for alcohol and other drugs workers; officers of the law and criminal justice system; policy analysts; and administrators
