Médecins Sans Frontières – Doctors Without Borders
Médecins Sans Frontières are seeking urgent donations as urgent medical supplies are needed. Médecins Sans Frontières was one of the first non-governmental organisations to provide urgently needed medical assistance and to publically bear witness to the plight of the people it helps.
Internationally, through its network of 19 offices, Médecins Sans Frontières sends out some 3,000 field workers per year. Working alongside over 22,000 local staff in teams around the world, our field workers bring life-saving emergency medical assistance to populations who would otherwise be denied access to even the most basic health care
In 1999, Médecins Sans Frontières was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of its pioneering humanitarian work.
Today, Médecins Sans Frontières or Doctors Without Borders is an international independent movement with offices in nineteen countries.
During 2006, the Médecins Sans Frontières field team was made up of more than 27,000 individuals, including doctors, nurses, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, mental health professionals, logistics experts, water and sanitation engineers, administrators and a host of other professional and non-professional support staff, working in over sixty countries around the world
The organisation is always interested in people who wish to volunteer for a mission overseas or volunteers to help in their Sydney office
